MMANWU
English title: Masquerade
Mmanwu, ZOMA’s debut project, is a 2D animated horror short about a Nigerian-American teenager returning to Nigeria after the death of her grandfather. Centering Igbo-Nigerian culture and traditions, this film mixes magical realism and horror to explore themes of grief, spirituality and cross-cultural understanding.
Mmanwu also had a successful Kickstarter campaign, earning the “Project We Love” badge, and receiving the Creative Capital x Skoll Creator Fund. The full short film is currently in pre-production.
